Bishops of Methodist Church Nigeria have commended the Akwa Ibom State Governor, Pastor Umo Eno for his commitment to peace, good governance, infrastructural development, and the welfare of the people.
The Clerics also declared their support to the establishment of state Police which they described as a critical reform for addressing escalating security challenges and strengthening security governance at the subnational level.

These were contained in a communiqué issued at the end of the 43rd council of Bishops of Methodist Church Nigeria held at Immanuel Methodist Cathedral, Uyo, Akwa Ibom State.
The conference which too place from Sunday, 7th to Monday, 15th June, 2026 under the leadership of His Eminence, Dr. Oliver Ali Aba, JP, Prelate, Methodist Church Nigeria, had in attendance 129 Bishops and Archbishops.
Addressing newsmen on Sunday June 14, Dr. Oliver Ali Aba, JP, Prelate, Methodist Church Nigeria, noted that the theme for this year’s conference was “I Will Fight for You” (Exodus 14:14), noting that the conference provided opportunity for the Bishops to chart a new course in church administration.
The Council of Bishops also acknowledged the cordial relationship between the administration of Pastor Umo Eno and the Church , adding that prayers have been offered for continued divine wisdom, strength, and success.

On the State Police, the Council therefore called on the State Houses of Assembly to expedite concurrence for its final adoption.
“The Council notes with concern the prevailing economic hardship confronting many Nigerians and businesses due to rising inflation, unemployment, and the escalating cost of living. Government at all levels is urged to pursue policies capable of stimulating economic growth, generating employment opportunities, and restoring hope among the citizenry.
“Recognising the strategic role of young people in nation-building, the Council calls for increased Sustainable empowerment through meaningful employment is emphasized as a more enduring Investment in education, skills acquisition, entrepreneurship, innovation, and job creation. Solution than reliance on handouts and palliatives.
“Council commends His Excellency, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR, for his continued efforts in addressing the challenges confronting the nation and for demonstrating commitment to national development through ongoing economic reforms, infrastructure initiatives, and interventions in critical sectors of national life.
“While acknowledging that considerable challenges remain, the Council encourages the President to remain steadfast in the pursuit of policies and programmes that promote national unity, economic recovery, security, and sustainable development. It further urges government at all levels to ensure that the benefits of these reforms translate into tangible improvements in the living conditions of ordinary Nigerians. The Council assures the President of its prayers for divine wisdom, strength, and guidance in the discharge of his responsibilities.”
The Council called on all Methodists, and Nigerians, to remain steadfast in prayer for the peace and prosperity of the Nigeria.
