Stakeholders in Mbo local government area and the House of Representatives Committee on Implementation of Corporate Social Responsibility, CRS, have commended Oriental Energy for its commitment to Corporate Social Responsibility .
This was made known in Uyo on Thursday during an interactive session between communities in Mbo where Oriental Energy operates and House of Representatives committee.
The event featured testimonies from different representatives of the host communities, institution in which Oriental Energy has executed projects.
Some stakeholders also appealed to lawmakers to provide similar avenue for them to rate other oil companies operating within their domain, describing OERL as the best oil company.
Based on the testimonies gathered, the House of Representatives Committee of the Implementation of Corporate Social Responsibility, appreciated Oriental Energy Resources Limited for living up to expectation.
The chairman, House of Representative Committee on Implementation of Corporate Social Responsibility, Hon. (Prof.) Oby Lilian Orogbu said testimonies received from representatives of the oil companies underscores premium placed on the interest of the host communities by Oriental Energy Resources Limited.

“Having heard all the submissions from the representative of all the communities in Mbo local government area, I can say that we are highly impressed. We are happy to hear the level of engagements, the level of responsibility that Oriental Energy Resources Limited has shown to the Mbo communities. We are happy that they have been able to provide at least to a reasonable extent the infrastructure in these communities.
“We are representing the people. The 10th Assembly is people oriented Assembly. Our focus is majorly the welfare of the people. That is why we advocate that the host communities provide necessary information that will aide the committee to do the needful.
“By the wisdom of the 10th Assembly, this Committee was created to drive both private and public companies to ensure that they give back to the society by way of ensuring that the roads are built and maintained, provide electricity to the communities, water and other necessary things for the growth and wellbeing of the host communities. I want to once again thank Oriental Energy Resources Limited for all they have done so far. We will present this report to the 10th Assembly accordingly.” Orogbu stated.
