The Managing Director, Oriental Energy Resources Limited Mr Mustafa Indimi, has reiterated the company’s commitment to the operational effectiveness and efficiency of Effiat and Mbo Host Communities Development Trust.
Mr. Ndimi noted that Oriental Energy has demonstrated full compliant with the financial obligations to the Trust in line with the provisions of the PIA Act.
He made this known on Wednesday September 9, during a-three-day capacity building programme for Effiat and Mво Host Communities’ Development Trust in Uyo, Akwa Ibom State capital.
The Managing Director who was represented by Head, Community and Government Relations, Dr. Uwem Ite, expressed the belief that the 3-day capacity building will enable the host community trust to demonstrate improved governance and leadership capacity; ensure transparent and accountable in fund management; deliver well-structured and impactful development projects, and effectively manage relationship with stakeholders among others.
“I would like to use this opportunity to appreciate the three governance organs of the Trust for working together to deliver development benefits to Effiat, Ebughu, Enwang, Uda and Udesi, with the funding provided by Oriental Energy.
“We were particularly impressed with the planning, implementation and outcomes of the 15-day medical outreach programme held from 13th 30th May 2026 in the communities. The Monitoring and Evaluation Report that we received provided useful insights with key lessons and recommendations.
“Beyond this training, the leadership of the Trust must recognize that sustainable development thrives only within an environment of peaceful co-existence among stakeholders. It also requires effective, result-oriented and purpose-driven leadership as well as meaningful contribution by various stakeholders.”
Interacting with journalists after the opening ceremony, Dr. Uwem Ite commended the Trust for showing accountability and transparency in their operation, and assured of continued guidance by the Oriental Energy Resources Limited.
Earlier in his opening speech, Prof. Sam Smah, representative of African Centre for Environment, Agriculture and Rural Development, the consulting firm for the training, said the programme is designed to advance institutional development intervention.
He assured that at the end of the training, participants will leave the programme with enhanced knowledge, practical tools and a stronger appreciation of their respective roles.

In his remark, the chairman of Effiat and Mbo Host Communities Development Trust, Barr. Inam Effiong Okon, said the gathering marks a major step in the Trust’s collective commitment in ensuring that the aims and objectives of the Petroleum Industry Act on Host Communities are effectively and efficiently discharged.
“I urge every participant to take this training seriously. Most importantly, it is my hope that at the end of this exercise, we leave this training with a shared understanding of what is expected of us and a renewed commitment to doing the right thing and discharging our duties more competently.” The chairman said.
The training had 74 participants in attendance.
