The immediate past Senator representing Uyo Senatorial District, Obong Bassey Albert, OBA, has congratulated the Akwa Ibom State Governor, Pastor Umo Eno on his victory at the Supreme Court.
OBA, a governorship candidate on the platform of Young Progressives Party (YPP) in 2023 governorship election, had emerged second with 136,262 votes while Akanimo Udofia of the APC scored 129,602.
Dissatisfied with the outcome of the election, OBA had dragged pastor Umo Eno of PDP to the election petition tribunal challenging his victory, but the case was finally dismissed on Thursday January 11, by the supreme.
In a released titled; “ A message of gratitude and hope”, Obong Bassey Albert appreciated his supporters for walking through the long political turf with him despite numerous hurdles, including his incarceration.
He congratulated Pastor Umo Eno and pledged his support for his administration with a vow to continuously advocate for advancement of good governance in the state.
The Senator urged his supporters to look beyond every setback experienced during the electioneering but focus on God who he said has reasons for everything.
“I extend my heartfelt congratulations to His Excellency, Governor Umo Eno, and his government on their victory. I am confident and pray that he will work tirelessly towards the progress and development of our beloved state.
“As we move forward, I pledge my full support to His Excellency and his administration. As a true democrat, I firmly believe that the progress and development of our beloved state should transcend any personal ambition. I encourage all of us to keep Governor Umo Eno in our thoughts and prayers as he takes on this significant responsibility.
“I would also like to express my deepest gratitude to those who have been instrumental in my political journey and those who played a pivotal role in bringing me into politics. To my supporters, volunteers, and campaign team who dedicated their time, energy, and resources, I am forever indebted to you. Keep hope alive. Your unwavering belief in our shared vision has been the driving force behind our campaigns.
“As we navigate the path ahead, let us hold fast the confession of our faith without wavering for He who promised, is Faithful (Heb. 10:23) believing that our collective efforts will continue to shape the future of our state. Together, let us channel our energies towards fostering unity, peace, and progress for the betterment of Akwa Ibom State.
“I reiterate my steadfast dedication to the good governance of Akwa Ibom State. I will persist in advocating for the advancement of our state and its esteemed citizens. I will continue to strive for the amplification of the people’s voices and the fulfillment of their needs.

Meanwhile, findings from The Crest indicated that OBA’s decision to congratulate the governor has heralded excitement in the camp of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP.
