A joint team of the World Bank and Federal Project Management Unit, FPMU of the Rural Access and Agricultural Marketing Project RAAMP arrived Akwa Ibom yesterday, ahead of the physical assessment of project sites currently being embarked upon under the Akwa Ibom State Rural Access and Agricultural Marketing Project, AKS-RAAMP on Monday May 05, 2025.
The 5-member World Bank team is led by the Task-team leader, Mr. Rakesh Treparti, while the FPMU team is led by the National Coordinator of RAAMP, Engr. Aminu Bodinga Mohammed.

A statement by the State Project Coordinator, Pastor Gideon Akpan, on behalf of the Hon. Commissioner for Agriculture, Dr. Mrs. Offiong Offor and the State Project Monitoring Committee, SPMC of AKS-RAAMP, Dr. Mrs. Atim Okoko indicates that the visit is a prelude to the joint World Bank and French Development Agency mission to be scheduled later in the year.
Foundation launches support for ministers, family members in A’Ibom State
Mission is a routine biannual evaluation convergence of all the 20 states currently participating in the project across the country to share knowledge, identify areas of strengths and weaknesses as well as explore best ways forward for the successful implementation of the project in the country.
The statement welcomes the team to the Land of Promise and wishes them a seamless and enterprising stay throughout their assignment, while expressing appreciation to the State Governor, Pastor Umo Bassey Eno PhD for his enormous support to the project as a flagship index of the ARISE agenda, which has culminated in the notable heights so far attained by AKS-RAAMP among various communities in the state.

AKS-RAAMP is involved in the construction of over 118 – kilometers of roads under the upgrading and backlog maintenance / rehabilitation components of the project across the state as well as the transformation of three markets: Ekponwa market in Nsit Ibom; Naira market in Ikono and Atabong beach market in Okobo Local Government Areas into standard, ultra-modern agro-logistics centers across the state.
Three of these roads, traversing about 15 communities have been completed and awaiting commissioning. They include the 11- kilometer Owotuta – Nung Oku Ekere – Afaha Udo Eyop – Edeobom – Utuat market junction demonstration rural road in Ibesikpo Asutan and Nsit Ibom Local Government Areas; 7.11 – kilometer Ibiaku Obio Ndobo – Adadia Road in Uruan Local Government Area; and 2.12 – kilometer Okop Nko – Okop Ndua Road in Ibesikpo Asutan Local Government Area, while others are at various implementation stages of work in progress.
The 15 communities are: Owotuta, Ikot Okubo, Ikot Ikerre, Itoko, Afaha Ikot Owop, Afaha Udo Eyop, Okop Nko, Okop Ndua, Edeobom 1, Ibiaku Obio Ndobo, Ikot Akpa Ekang, Ikot Edun, Ikot Akan and Adadia Issiet – all in Ibesikpo Asutan, Nsit Ibom and Uruan Local Government Areas.
