The newly elected Chairman of the Nigerian Institution of Surveyors (NIS), Akwa Ibom State Branch, Surv. Christopher Ekpo, has expressed the need for a strong collaboration between the NIS and the Association of Private Practising Surveyors of Nigeria (APPSN), Akwa Ibom State Branch, in order to chart a course that would enhance the profession and largely benefit the State.
Surv. Ekpo said this on Thursday, 26 May 2023 when officials of the APPSN led by their Chairman, Surv. Ekerete Etukudo, paid him and his executive members a courtesy call at his private office in Uyo, the Akwa Ibom State capital.
Surv. Ekpo assured that NIS would synergize with the APPSN and all other critical stakeholders to establish a common front that would uplift the profession, even as he pledged an open door policy for a broad-base interaction and exchange of ideas.

Among the matters discussed at the meeting was the issue of Surveyors Estate, which, according to the Surveyors, would be revisited so that young Practicing Surveyors in the Institution would benefit from the programme.
Earlier in his remark, the APPSN Chairman, Surv. Etukudo, commended Surveyor Ekpo and his executive members for fostering a good working relationship with his group, and for their commitment to reposition the profession in the State.
Meanwhile, the Nigerian Institution of Surveyors (NIS), Akwa Ibom State Branch, has inaugurated its new executive members to pilot the affairs of the institution for the next two years.
The Inauguration Ceremony followed an earlier election held by members of the Institution on Wednesday, 17 May, 2023 at the NIS Secretariat in Uyo.
The immediate past Chairman, Surv. Felix Udoh who presided over the Institution from 2019 to 2023 formerly handed over to the new Chairman, Surv. Christopher A. Ekpo.
Speaking shortly after his inauguration, Surv. Ekpo promised to embark on programmes that would put the Institution on the spotlight in order to make Surveyors in the State relevant, as well as forge unity among its members.
Other elected EXCO members are: Surv. (Dr.) Aniekan E. Eyoh –Vice Chairman; Surv. Hosanna M. Attai –Secretary; Surv. Etieno C. Asuquo –Assist. Secretary; Surv. Edidiong Ekpoikong –treasurer; Surv. Henry Uso –financial secretary; Surv. Daniel Jonathan O. –Publicity Secretary/Welfare Officer; Surv. Ezekiel Ikpene – Council Representive; and Surv. Unwana Billy – Internal auditor.
