Senator representing Akwa Ibom South Senatorial District in the National Assembly, Senator Ekong Sampson, has said that the establishment of South South Development Commission with headquarters in Uyo, will drive growth within the region.
Senator Sampson commended the Senate President, Chief Godswill Akpabio and his colleagues from the region for speaking in one voice in order to ensure the commission becomes a reality.
The Senator who spoke with newsmen in Uyo on Sunday, said he is committed to impacting lives across his senatorial district.
“If there is anything I want to be remembered for in the Senate, it is my intervention in the education sector.”
He listed some of the projects executed and ongoing by him to include; construction of a major medical facility at General Hospital, Iquita, Oron LGA; construction of a medical facility at Immanuel Hospital, Eket LGA; construction of a medical facility at General Hospital, Ikot Abasi LGA; establishment of a Federal Medical Centre in Akwa Ibom South Bill sponsored by Senator Ekong Sampson which he said is set for Second Reading.
The Senator explained that bill for Establishment of Federal University of Medical Sciences, Eket sponsored is set for Second Reading.
In the education sector, the Senator said he has constructed some Staff Quarter at Excellence College, Ikot Unya, Mkpat Enin LGA, commenced fencing at St Vincent Secondary School, Oti-oro, Okobo LGA.
He added that he is constructing ICT Centres at St Francis Secondary School, Ikot Ataku, Eket LGA, St Vincent Secondary School, Oti-oro, Okobo LGA and Excellence College, Ikot Unya, Mkpat Enin LGA and has made arrangements for the construction of staff quarters at Community Secondary, Udung Uko LGA.
“Construction of Science Laboratory at Community Technical School, Eyokpifie, Urueoffong Oruko LGA. Construction of boarding facilities at Excellence College, Ikot Unya.”
He urged his constituents to remain hopeful as he intends to extend his good works to all corners of the senatorial district.
