In view of the recent claim in the media that Governor Udom Emmanuel has moved to stall the emergence of Senator Godswill Akpabio as the next Senate president, one of the Governor’s aide has dismissed the report as untrue, noting that the selection of the next senate President is strictly APC matter, as such Governor Udom Emmanuel cannot be involved.
The Governor’s aide who did not want his name on print, argued that the selection of the next Senate president entirely rests on the shoulders of Senators.

He explained that such claim against the Governor is capable of causing dissension in the polity.
It can be recalled that in last edition of The Crest, some political leaders had alleged that Governor Udom Emmanuel, apart from mobilising senators elected on the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, not to support Senator Akpabio’s Senate president ambition, he was also accused of reaching out to his colleagues who won Senatorial seats to vote against Akpabio.
Reacting to the allegation, the Governor’s aide described such claim as false and adding that the Governor cannot be dragged into internal politics of APC.
“The Governor cannot do such thing. This is wrong accusation which is false and baseless. Governor Udom Emmanuel is not from APC and cannot be dragged into internal party affair of APC.”
