An indigenous company, Nsik Oil and Gas Company Limited is set for the construction of Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) mother station with a capacity of 10 million standard cubic feet (10MMSCF) per day in Esit Eket Local Government Area.
This was disclosed during the ground breaking ceremony of the project on Thursday March 20, by Minister of State for Petroleum Resources (Gas), Obongemen Ekperikpe Ekpo, at Uquo Isi Idoho community, Esit Eket Local Government Area.
The Project Overview indicates that the mother station is targeted at supplying Compressed Natural Gas to daughter stations through specialized transport vehicles-cascade systems or tube trailers.
Speaking on the essence of the project, the Chairman/CEO Nsik Oil and Gas Company Limited, Mr. Nsikan Johnny described the project as a testament to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda and his company’s commitment to driving economic growth, reducing environmental impact, and improving the lives of our communities.
He pledged his company’s commitment to ensuring the project benefits the local community and contribute to the nation’s economic development.
“As we break ground today, we look forward to a future where clean energy is no longer a constraint to growth and development.
“We also envision a future where our CNG Mother Station plays a vital role in powering industries, transportation, and homes, while reducing carbon footprint and promoting sustainable development.
“This project is not just about building a facility; it’s about creating opportunities, stimulating economic growth, and enhancing the quality of life for the people of Nigeria and Akwa Ibom State.
“We are committed to ensuring that this project benefits the local community and contributes to the nation’s economic development.” Johnny said.
In his speech, the Minister of State for petroleum resources (Gas), Obongemem Ekperikpe Ekpo noted that 10MMSCF/D CNG Mother Station project is not about money but a peaceful environment and appealed to the people of Esit Eket to give peace a chance for the project to come to fruition.
He explained the project will add value, create employment for the people of the area and Akwa Ibom State.
“The time has come for Akwa Ibom people to wake up and take ownership in the oil and gas sector.”
Ekpo commended Nsik Oil and Gas for what he described as bold and forward thinking investment, noting that the President has prioritised natural gas as catalyst for national development.
“This is a clear demonstration of the private sector alignment. My ministry is committed to creating enabling environment for business like this to thrive. I commend Nsik’s foresight and I urged others in private sector to emulate this and take advantage in the oil and gas sector.”
In her goodwill message, the non-executive director on the Board of the Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPCL), Dr. Eunice Thomas, appreciated the Chairman/CEO of Nsik Oil and Gas Company Limited for siting the project in Esit Eket local government area.

She advocated for youths to be duly trained and engaged while appealing for daughter stations to be established in the local government.
The Chairman of Esit Eket Local Government Area, Mrs. Ikemesit Ikot, while noting that the project is strategic and significant to the people of the area, commended Nsikik for his hard work which she said is rooted in simplicity and integrity.
She assured that the council is working assiduously to change the narrative of the area as a destination for investors.
“Nsik will explore possibilities of expanding to create more employment opportunities for youths. We have competent hands in all areas of need. We shall sustain the peaceful atmosphere for more investments in Esit Eket.” The chairman promised.
Nsuduok Etudo Ikot, the representative of the Paramount Ruler of Esit Eket, said the Traditional Rulers Council is elated with the leadership of the country and assured of the community’s cooperation with Nsik for the project to materialize.
Senator Effiong Bob, the Political Leader of Uyo Senatorial District commended the Minister for standing by Nsik Oil and Gas.
He averred the project will make the community and the state at large prosper while charging more Akwa Ibom people to invest in other opportunities within the value chain.
The highpoint of the ceremony was laying of foundation stone for the project.
