Ikot Esetang youths, Uruk Uso in Ikot Ekpene local government area have expressed grievance over the imposition of councillorship aspirant by political stakeholders of the area.
The youths described as insulting, barbaric, and unacceptable for few stakeholders to unanimously select and impose a councillorship aspirant on the people.
The youths accused Ntufam Elijah of Ikot Aya family, former House of Representatives member Hon. Nsikak Ekong and the immediate past local government chairman, Hon. Unyime Etim both from Ikot Ikpong family, of interfering in the selection process without due consultation.
According to one of the youths who did not want his name mentioned, “Uruk Uso has four gazetted families with nucleus families inside.
“As usual, it is the responsibility of all the families to sit together and choose who they want as councilor instead of people from other families to impose one Godwin Nwayen from Nto Ekon.
“Others who are interested in that position were not given level playing ground to do so or the affected families invited to choose who they want.”
The youths said the action of Ntufam Elijah, Unyime Etim and Nsikak Ekong is against the directive of the Governor which advised all stakeholders to sit together and choose any aspirant.
They vowed to reject and protest against the planned imposition of one Godwin Nwayen with an option of voting for opposition candidate.
