The Governor’s wife who visited the orphanage on Tuesday August 1, was accompanied by female government dignitaries.
Pastor Patience Eno urged the children to be of their best behaviour at all times, noting that she was optimistic that they would grow up to become very important people in the society in future.
She encouraged the children to be obedient to their caregivers and as well have the fear God in them in order to become useful citizens of the State.
“I have been longing to visit you for long time. I am glad that I could make out time to come today. I am very delighted to see all of you in good health. I don’t need to tell you that I am happy to be here and I know, from your expressions, you are also happy to have me here. I only came here to greet you and to share some gift items to you.
“I know that you are very good children and I urge you to continue being good because there is a blessing attached to being good children. I pray that you will grow to be doctors, lawyers, governors, and prominent people in future. I pray that God will preserve and keep you,” the Governor’s wife said.
Pastor Eno thanked the teachers and minders at the home for taking care of the children who she said were all looking healthy and well fed.
Acknowledging the efforts of the wife of the former Governor of the State, Dr. Martha Udom Emmanuel in moulding and shaping the lives of the children of the home and the good work she did in ensuring that the children were given the best of life, the Governor’s wife pledged to continue from where she stopped.
The First Lady donated gift items to include bags of rice, beans, noodles, tissue papers, cartons of biscuits, seasoning cubes, milk, as well as many other items.
Earlier, the Coordinator of Divine Home, Dr. Idorenyin Ekanem appreciated the governor’s wife for the August visit and her benevolence and magnanimity towards children of Divine Home. The Commissioner for Women Affairs, Dr. Ini Adiakpan lauded the Governor’s wife for taking a step in the right direction while appealing that she visits other homes in the state. “As you move from Divine Children Home which is a nucleus to your children, you will still need to visit other homes. I thank you so much on your maiden visit which is a step into your programming for the children of Akwa Ibom State beyond the orphans and vulnerable children.” This she said is pertinent for programming them early in life to ensure they become meaningful in life.
In their separate goodwill messages, the Wife of the SSG, Mrs Inemesit Uwah, wife of the PDP Chairman, Mrs Unyime Akpan and LEWA members applauded Pastor Patience for visiting the children as it will go a long way in molding them positively. While also pledging their support to the home.
