The Chairman of Etinan Local Government Area; Hon. Uko Umoh has assured civil servants under the employ of the local government of his readiness to provide a good working environment and incentives for them to function effectively.
The Council Boss who gave this assurance on Wednesday, December 20, 2023 at the Millennium Hall, Etinan during an interactive session with the leadership and members of the Nigerian Union of Local Government Employees (NULGE), charged them to take their work seriously in order to enable the repositioning of the local government area.
Hon. Uko Umoh said “Thank you very much for the warmth reception you have accorded me. I must say that I am happy to be here to serve you and the entire local government area. By your reception today, you have shown me that I am welcomed within your midst. I pray that this love continues.
One thing I must note very quickly is that for this love to continue, we must cooperate. I want us to work together to reposition Etinan by encouraging and promoting good attitudes to work. Come to work everyday and be punctual. You are very lucky to have me as your Chairman who loves to listen to people’s problems and try to find solution”.
While appreciating the governor for being workers’ friendly, Hon. Uko Umoh enjoined the workers to reciprocate His Excellency’s gesture by taking their work seriously.
“Let me use this opportunity to thank the governor of Akwa Ibom State; His Excellency, Pastor Umo Eno for being workers’ friendly. As I speak to you, all of you have received the 13th Month salary codenamed ‘Enomber’. To reciprocate that gesture, you must take your work seriously.
Let me also say here that my administration will not welcome official misconducts. You all know the Civil Service Rules. Don’t form cartels. If you have genuine matters, use the right channels appropriately and I can assure you that It would be addressed accordingly.
I have gone through virtually all your offices and I have noted my observations. Rest assured that in no distant time, your offices would be repositioned in such a way that you would be eager and willing to come to work. Come up with good ideas that would help us to succeed”.
Earlier, the Head of Service; Mrs. Mercy Ntekim thanked the Chairman for finding it fit in less than one month in office to meet with the workers. While assuring him of maximum cooperation, she expressed the hope that the Council helmsman would bring to bear his humaneness in relating with the workers.
On his part, the Etinan Chapter Chairman of NULGE; Comrade Ifiok Macaulay, on behalf of his members congratulated Hon. Uko Umoh on his appointment as Chairman of the Council. He appealed to the Chairman to prioritize workers’ welfare and pledged total loyalty to the new administration of the Council.
Also present during the interactive session were the Vice Chairman; Hon. Imaobong Michael, Council Secretary; Hon. Lawrencia Etuk, Chief of Staff to the Chairman; Pastor Ubong Inyang and Honourable Supervisors in the Council.
Others were Directors, Heads of Departments and Parastatals as well as other officers in the local government area.
