experiences
The visit to China for seminar on Cross-border E-commerce for Developing Countries provided a good opportunity not just to study the Chinese model for development, it also provided a first hand experience of how it works.
The smart city of Shenghen, a three hour on air from Beijing is boast of ultra modern high rise structures and commercial nerve center of the most populous country on earth. The city itself is heaven on earth, to say the least! The city provides countless opportunities for e-commerce and traditional trading and businesses that should be grabbed with two hands.
The visit to China’s historical sites like the Great Wall built over 2,000 years ago, as well as other ancient towns, made very good experiences and something to remember in a lifetime.
Case for Nigeria and Other Developing Countries
Undoubtedly, China was in four decades ago, one of the poorest nations on earth. However, with bold steps taken by their leaders, the same country is today the hub of development and industrialization and second largest economy on planet earth despite the huge population of over 1.41 billion people. The country has moved from agricultural revolution to high technological advancement with specific target of exploring the lunar moon by 2040.
Learning from China’s experience, it is therefore a clarion call on leaders in Nigeria in particular and developing countries in general, to take bold steps and tow the right part of development and take their citizens out of poverty. Good enough, with emerging e-commerce, it is possible.
The time for leaders and stakeholders in developing countries to rise up, is certainly now!
