As Akwa Ibom State marks its 38th anniversary, Barr. Imo Akpan, the Federal Commissioner representing Akwa Ibom State at the Revenue Mobilisation Allocation and Fiscal Commission (RMAFC), has lauded the enduring spirit of unity and peace that now defines the state’s political and communal landscape.
In his reflections, Barr. Akpan observed that under the administration of Governor Umo Eno, who he fondly described as the chief shepherd of the state, Akwa Ibom has witnessed a remarkable attitudinal renewal, one that transcends party lines, ethnic affiliations, and local rivalries. This climate of tolerance and collaboration, he noted, mirrors the national-level disposition of the Senate President, Senator Godswill Akpabio, GCON, whose inclusive leadership continues to inspire harmony among Akwa Ibomites across divides.

Barr. Akpan emphasized that this new approach to governance has radiated beyond politics into tangible sectors of development. From the land reclamation efforts at Dominic Utuk, now being reimagined as a world-class tourist resort, to the revitalization of the medical corridor and the restoration of joy among retirees through the clearing of gratuity arrears, the state’s progress has become both visible and meaningful.
According to the Federal Commissioner, these strides represent more than just developmental achievements, they are evidence of a people united in purpose and maturing in civic responsibility. At 38, Akwa Ibom, he remarked, has come of age. The state has learned the value of cooperation, the strength in peace, and the wisdom in continuity.
Barr. Akpan concluded with a call for collective ownership of Akwa Ibom’s future. “The journey ahead,” he noted, “demands the hands and hearts of all Akwa Ibomites, home and abroad, to sustain this trajectory of growth, peace, and shared prosperity.”
At 38, Akwa Ibom stands not only as a model of development but as a living proof that unity remains the foundation of greatness.
