The Akwa Ibom State Commissioner for Culture and Tourism, Dr. Anieti Udofia has disclosed the state government’s intention to produce Digital Visitors’ Manual to guide tourists in the state.
The Commissioner said the visitors’ guide will not only assist tourists but serve as a compass to wherever they wish to visit.
The Commissioner made this known while speaking with journalists in his office last week.

Dr. Udofia disclosed that the Governor has approved the award of contract for continued work at the international conference centre and Ibom Tropicana Hotel, adding that the hotel is aimed at boosting the tourist sector of the state’s economy.
“The Ministry is planning to produce Digital Visitors’ Manual. It will content the tourist sites in Akwa Ibom such that the visitors at just a glance can see what is happening in the state and visit any site alone without necessarily looking for someone to take him or her there.
“The Ministry is also developing an app, a marketing strategy we call ‘Di Akwa Ibom’ to sell Akwa Ibom and make people know what we have here that they can come and feel it.
“We need to market and rebrand what we have and make it interesting for people to come and have a feel of it. We have rafia in Ikot Ekpene, Itiat Ubium in Nsit Ubium, international Worship Centre in Uyo with a capacity to take 10,000 guests at a time.
“Regarding the hospitality aspect, there was a law passed some years ago. We have the intention to represent that in order to empower the Hotels and Management Board take up their responsibility.”
The Commissioner assured that the Ministry is committed to implementing policies of the present administration as well as drive the culture and tourism sector of the state.
