The Akwa Ibom State Governor, Pastor Umo Eno has said that there is no more hiding place for criminals in the State. He made the declaration on Tuesday during a media chat with journalists as part of the activities to mark his one year in office.
Reacting to question on the increased cases of kidnapping and other criminal activities in the state especially along water ways and creeks, Governor Eno said that his administration is “tackling insecurity headlong”.
While calling on the people and residents of the State to always report criminals within their domain, the Governor noted that his administration will not condone criminal minded persons.
On the challenges faced by civil servants in accessing housing scheme earmarked for workers in the state employ, the governor said that his administration is embarking on a new housing scheme to address the situation.
The governor further stressed that Akwa Ibom State will no longer be a dumping ground for civil servants, saying that henceforth, recruitments must be on merit after written exam that would be digital, and there is no more slots in the recruitment process.
In the area of agriculture, he stressed the need for all Akwa Ibom people to go back to the farm to enhance food security.
He assured that he will continue to serve the people of the state with the best of his ability and with all his heart.
In his remarks, the State Chairman of Nigeria Union of Journalists, NUJ, Akwa Ibom State Council, Comrade Amos Etuk, thanked the governor for presenting his scorecard to Akwa Ibom people. He pledged continued partnership between the media community and the government.
