“This project is of standard and as I said, we need accommodation. With this project, we are going to move Faculty of Environmental Studies from the town campus down here.
“I have mentioned to the Dean that students should take ownership of the project. We have also made provision for annual renovation of buildings within the institution. I called on other contractors to learn from fens who in the face of challenges never demanded for variation.”
He decried a situation where many contractors are still handling some projects within the instruction for over three years and directed Dean of Environmental Studies to relocate the whole faculty to the new building on or before May 15.
Also, while appreciating the contractor, the Secretary Presidential NEEDS assessment committee, Barr. Otu Etukudoh revealed that Faculty of Environmental Studies building is the first NEEDS project delivered on record time within the University.
He thanked the Vice Chancellor for providing enabling environment for the company to complete the project.
Earlier in his remark, the Managing Director Fens Properties Nigeria Limited Mr. Michael Udofia, appreciated the Vice Chancellor for giving the company a good atmosphere to work.
He identified unexpected result from soil test, and unavailability of cash as major challenges that slowed down the projects.
“We have delivered this project in good condition and I want to give a hundred percent assurance on safety.
“We were given seven months by the University to complete that project but I am very sure if not for the challenges, we would have completed the project within five months.
“When you handle project, there are a lot of mix which includes decision making process, welfare of workers and capacity, that is the ability to fund the project when the money is not coming as expected.”
“I want to say that completion of quality and highly efficient projects are DNA of Fens Properties Nigeria Limited and we still look forward to serving Nigeria and the University.”
