Transition committee members and supervisors in Etinan local government area have passed vote of confidence on the council chairman, Hon. Uko Umoh.
The supervisors who stormed the chairman’s residence in Uyo on Saturday January 6,for a new year visit also pledged their continued loyalty and support for the administration.
The Supervisor for Agriculture, Hon. (Eng) Ime John Inyang who spoke on behalf of his colleagues, hinted that the Vote of Confidence passed on the Chairman was well-deserved.
He noted that within a short time in office, Hon Uko Umoh has demonstrated an unprecedented leadership prowess.
“We the Supervisors came here this morning for a surprise New Year visit to our Chairman; Hon Uko Umoh. During the visit, we thought it wise to pass a Vote of Confidence on him based on his track record within his time in office.
He deserves it and it is the voice of the entire Iman Ibom people. We represent each Ward in the entire local government area and we have heard what everyone is saying about his leadership style.
“He has brought in transparency in the leadership of Etinan Local Government Area and has touched nearly all the facets and sectors in the area within this short period. So we, representing our people came this morning to express our total and continued support and loyalty to his administration. We pray and hope that God will continue to bless and give him guidance to continue in his good works”.
Reacting to the visit, the Chairman of Etinan Local Government Area; Hon. Uko Umoh said he was touched by the Vote of Confidence freely passed on him by all the Supervisors in the Council.
Uko Umoh maintained that he was encouraged to note that his little efforts within his short period in office had been noted and appreciated.
“I am so touched by the speeches made at this visit and ultimately, the Vote of Confidence you freely and unanimously passed on me. One key thing it shows me is the fact that the little efforts I have made within this short time in office have been noticed and appreciated. It’s encouraging to me. Even God who created heaven and earth and has everything still expects appreciation from humans He created. So you are not out of order.
“I want to thank you for the confidence you all have in me and my leadership and I can’t take it for granted. I want to reassure you today, just as I said during our inaugural meeting that I will carry all of you along in everything I do in the Council. Yes, I am the Chairman which would have given me some powers to do certain things without consulting but my belief is that we would do better if we work together.
“Let me reiterate here that your welfare as my supervisors remains a topmost priority to me. Anytime you have issues, be it official or unofficial, come to me. By God’s grace, I will be there to do my best. Let’s work together to change the face of Etinan. Your support will help us go far in his journey”, the Council Boss said.
The chairman urged the supervisors to do their best by ensuring that efforts of His Excellency, Governor Umo Eno is felt by everyone down to the grassroots, adding that elections are over as everybody as such, they should be kind and fair to everyone, irrespective of political parties or inclination.
He assured that very soon the Council will begin to sponsor Supervisors to attend training within and outside the state.
“We want to train and build your capacities up for leadership tasks. We have a serious task ahead of us. We must work hard to get the Etinan of our dreams. This is an opportunity for us to contribute our quotas towards this dream”.
Also present during the visit were the Chief of Staff to the Chairman; Pastor Ubong Inyang, Supervisors for Works and Environment; Owoidogho Ekanem and NseObong Nda, respectively.
Others were Edidiong Celestine who is in charge of Education, Emmanuel Inyang -Security, Stanley Umoh -Social Development and Welfare.
Others were Supervisors for Political and Chieftaincy Affairs; Ene Etuknwa, Ubong Udoekong -Culture and Tourism, Mandy Stephen -Health, Godwin Ufot -Youths and Sports and Mfon Ekanem -Lands and Housing.
Highpoint of the visit was presentation of gift items to the Chairman.
