No less than 800 photographers and content creators are expected to gather in Uyo, the Akwa Ibom State capital, on 7th -9th October for 2026 Visual Conference and Photography Award which is themed, “ Beyond the Frame”. This was made known by the organisers during a media chat on Tuesday September 2.
Idara Adiakpan, the convener of the Visual Conference and Photograph Awards 2026, while addressing newsmen, averred that the conference is a carefully curated four-day all-inclusive programme, with expanded line-up of speakers whom she said are industry leaders in the creative space.

She recalled that with the past two editions, the conference has grown into a gathering point for photographers, creatives and storytellers who believe in the power of the image, adding that, “This year, we are taking it further by integrating other facets of the Creative Ecosystem.”
Miss Adiakpan noted that the past two editions of the conference were strictly for photographers, explaining that this year’s conference has been expanded to include content creators.
Unyime Ebong, the media contact for the conference, added that Wednesday, 7th October guests would arrrive Uyo, followed by the conference on Thursday, 8th October, while a Photography Exhibition as well as the Visual Conference Photography Awards and Dinner would be held on Friday, 9th October, at The Glass Hall, Ibom Tropicana Event Arena, Uyo.

“ The Visual Conference has, over the past two editions, built a reputation as a gathering point for photographers, creatives and storytellers across Nigeria, bringing them together to celebrate the power of the image and to recognize outstanding talent in the visual arts.
“This year’s edition promises to be the biggest yet, with an expanded speaker line-up, a dedicated exhibition day, a night of awards, and an evening of dinner and connection for the creative community.
“The programme closes with the Visual Conference Photography Awards, recognising excellence and standout work within the photography community, followed by a dinner bringing together speakers. guests, sponsors and creatives from across the region.” She explained.

According to the organisers, Sir Kelechi Amadi is selected to be Keynote Speaker for the 2026 Visual Conference while other speakers will include, Big H, Emmanuel Oyeleke, Esiaga, Bayo Omoboriowo, Amazing Klef, Image Faculty, Enwongo Cleopas Esq, JB Afams, and Ncourage, and other established photographers, creative voices and industry figures whom she said would be given opportunities to share insights and conversation across the programme.
According to the organising team, the 2026 visual conference is built with the support of media, hospitality and brand partners aim at positioning Akwa Ibom State as a growing destination for creative and cultural events in Nigeria.
The conference, according to the planning committee, is open and free for all photographers and content creators within and outside the state.
