Five (5) members of staff in the Office of the Accountant General, Akwa Ibom State, received cash reward and certificate of recognition for outstanding commitment and dedication in the year 2025.
The award presentation was one of the high points of the 2025 Christmas Carol hosted by the Office of the Accountant General.
Two Departments – Research, Planning and Statistics, and Audit – were recognised as top-performers at the Carol held on Tuesday 23 December 2025.
Speaking at the event which had as its theme “Praising God in Songs”, the Accountant General, Pastor Uwem Andrew-Essien, said the recognition of exceptional commitment and dedication of his members of staff aims to encourage others to dedicate themselves to more productive service.
Pastor Andrew-Essien said the Governor, Pastor Umo Eno has created conducive enablers within the service to motivate performance and encourage productivity.
He commended the Governor for approving the payment of salary bonus (known as 13th month), clearing backlog of gratuities, prompting regular payment of salaries and pensions.
He pledged unalloyed support of the Office to the Governor Eno and his ARISE Agenda.
Pastor Andrew-Essien who is also a Permanent Secretary praised God for the successful end of an eventful 2025 fiscal year, thanked members of staff for their commitment to work and the weekly prayer assembly convened by the Office.
He said the solemn exhortations at the weekly prayer meetings have helped to create an ambience of high moral behaviour and harmony among everyone in the Office.
“I am grateful to God that we did not record any death in the Office throughout the year 2025. So, we decided to set aside a day to appreciate God in songs for the gift of Jesus Christ and the gift of life”.
He urged everyone to live peacefully with one another and extend love and care to the needy during the yuletide.
The Accountant General solicited the continued support and cooperation of all members of staff in the 2026 fiscal year.
The Deputy Accountant General, Mrs. Emem George, who set the tone for the Christmas Carol expressed gratitude to God for His benevolence towards the Office in the outgoing year.
Mrs. George lauded the Accountant General for setting aside a day for members of staff of the Office to celebrate God for His love and kindness
In his exhortation on the theme of the carol, Rev. Dominic Paul, said thanksgiving is a command from God, irrespective of the circumstances.
The event featured the rededication of the Staff and Office of the Accountant General to God and song rendition by Departments.
Staff who received the special recognition award for outstanding commitment and dedication were, Mr.
Emmanuel Willie, Mr. Vincent Asuquo, Mr. Godwin Umoudi, Mr. Peter Usanga and Mrs Dayeabasi Godsien.
