The Managing Director of Ubotex limited, Elder Ubong Obot has warned Christian faithful to be wary of people who disguise themselves as ministers of God to deceive and manipulate innocent faithful of God through false preaching, prophecy, spiritual assignments among others.
He gave the warning on Sunday 8th June while delivering a sermon at The Apostolic Church Nigeria, Ikot Ntuen Oku Major Center, Uyo, the Akwa Ibom State Capital.
He said people are using the toga of fathers of faith and mothers of faith to deceive members of the public, causing confusion in the church and the society, noting that in the past, men of God were known to be godly, contented and spirit-filled such that people looked up to them, respected them and believed in them irrespective of church denomination.

“What we are witnessing today is a rising trend of fathers of faith and mothers of faith. Everyone is now father of faith or mother faith. Once some people are given any position in the church, they claim the title of fathers of faith or mothers of faith and use that to go about giving fake prophecy, false preaching, extort money from gullible members and engage in various illegal and ungodly activities. You see them running after politicians.
“They will meet one person in the morning and prophecy that God chooses him, and then in the night, they will meet the opponent and still prophecy that God chooses him for the same position. So, because it is a father or mother of faith that prophecy, the two opponents keep fighting each other and in some cases they end up killing each other. This is how they cause confusion in the state and in the church. They mislead our leaders all in the name of fathers and mothers of faith. It wasn’t like that in the past,” Obot said.
While warning Christian and the general public to beware of fake fathers of faith, Obot said a true child of God must be vigilant in order not to fall victim, even as he advised those indulging in the act to desist from it and follow the footsteps of Christ like men of God in the past such as the late National President of the Apostolic Church, Pastor E. E. Okon.
“A father of faith must be truthful, God fearing, show good example to others and above all, must be a vessel for God’s direction in the society. A father or mother of faith must be stand by the truth at all time and be very bold to speak truth those in authority, be it government or the church,” he added.
