In line with the ARISE AGENDA of Governor Umo Eno, the Managing Director/CEO of Akwa Ibom Property and Investments Company Limited (APICO) Barr. Patrick Udomfang, has recently recorded fresh innovative strides in APICO with the installation of solar light facilities in all APICO office locations and also completed the building and renovation of Shelter Afrique and Akwa Ima Estate offices of the company respectively.
Barr. Patrick Udomfang, who dropped the good news last Friday, 11th April, while presiding over the first quarter meeting of board, management and staff of the company, said the latest developmental strides come as APICO’s consolidation of the ARISE AGENDA of Pastor Umo Eno.

He mentioned with delight some of his recent achievements as the MD/CEO of APICO to include, installation of solar light within and outside APICO Investment House and installation of solar light in APICO Annex office. Others are, renovation and installation of solar light in Ewet Housing Office, renovation and installation of solar light in Shelter Afrique Office; building of Akwa Ima Office Complex and installation of solar light, and provision of solar light around the perimeter fence at Ibom Hall Ground.
“Today, APICO Investment House Building stands as the edifice of admiration under Barr. Udomfang, and depicts the status of a government building. This achievement marks a new narrative in the history of APICO as a company that no more stinks!” The MD observed.
Barr. Udomfang noted that the drive for installation of solar light in all the five office locations of Akwa Ibom State Property and Investment Company Limited was born out of his determination to provide a conducive environment for staff to work and foster greater productivity in the company.

It is also on record that on assumption of office as MD of APICO, Barr. Udomfang, introduced and started the Remittance of Ground Rent to Government IGR. Till date, he is committed to revenue generation that never existed since APICO was established; that policy of remittance is kept till date.
The Managing Director of APICO further stated clearly that these projects were executed through the Internally Generated Revenue (IGR) of the company.
Barr. Udomfang also recalled that on assumption of office, he inherited two scrap Hiluxes and two Hyundai vehicles that were meant to be sold out in the handover note. He noted that based on his determination and prudence in managing government assets, the vehicles were repaired and put to use again till date.

“On assumption of office I met four vehicles that were meant to be sold out as scraps but I stopped. Today, the vehicles that were said to be scraps are still in use. This is because I do not toy with government property. I want you to emulate me by taking good care of government property. Let us maintain the ones we have and bring another one to add.” Barr Patrick Udomfang stressed.
Barr. Udomfang announced to the delight of management and staff that APICO under his watch as the MD has kept the policy of remittance till date.
Hear him: “I have kept that policy of remittance of ground rent till date. Government gets revenue on ground rent in all government controlled estates, a policy that was not implemented before now. In 2023, we exceeded our budget estimates. In 2024, we were able to meet our budget estimate and I am optimistic that this year, we will exceed our budget estimate.”
Our reporter reports that Barr. Patrick Udomfang as the MD/CEO of APICO, before embarking on these recent developmental strides had earlier fixed the abandoned elevator in APICO Investment House and also carried out interlocking in the entire premises of APICO Investment House to curb the waterlogging problem encountered every rainy season in the premises.
Barr. Patrick Udomfang, used the opportunity to thank all members of staff in APICO for their support in the past years. He particularly observed with delight the positive attitudinal change among members of staff in APICO which according to him has led to greater productivity in the company.
” I want to appreciate you all for your support and commitment to duty, I have seen your cooperation. I want to thank particularly the staff of the estate department for their dedication to duty. APICO of today is different from the APICO I inherited. This has reflected in punctuality to work, it has equally reflected in so many other areas.This attitudinal change has shown in Estate Department through their timely delivery of assignments. This year, Estate Department delivered a complete documented Demand Notice to me on time.” The MD noted with delight.
The APICO MD further charged members of staff of the company on the need to protect government assets and property as their own, stressing that carelessness in handling government property will not be condoned.
Barr. Udomfang who was flanked at the meeting by the Company Secretary Barr. Ekerette Ekanem, Head of Administration Mrs Unyime Praise Okon, Head of Finance Lady Uduak Asikpo, and The Head of Estate Department Engr. Mike Akpan sued for team spirit among members of staff and management of the company while working to achieve the set goals of company.

He used the occasion to thank Governor Umo Eno for giving him the opportunity to contribute to the ARISE AGENDA of his administration and promised to leave good tangible legacies in Akwa Ibom Property and Investment Company Limited that will continue to speak of his leadership in years to come.
Barr. Patrick Udomfang, also called on staff of the company to use the farm days given by Governor Umo Eno and be effectively involved in farming activities to provide sufficient foods for their families and boost food production in the State.
He promised to provide uniform for all members of staff in APICO to join the May Day Celebration to mark the International Labour Day in Akwa Ibom State.
Responding on behalf of the members of staff in APICO, the Chairman of Labour Union in the Company, Comrade Bright Udofia thanked Barr. Patrick Udomfang, for the achievements APICO has recorded under his leadership as the Managing Director of the company. Comrade Bright Udofia particularly praised Barr. Udomfang, for making the welfare of workers top in his priority.
Equally speaking, the Vice Chairman of Labour Union in the company, Comrade Sunday Ekpa, noted that APICO staff under the leadership of Barr. Patrick Udomfang, have enjoyed better welfare packages besides the provision of a conducive work environment for workers made possible courtesy of the leadership of Barr. Patrick Udomfang.
