A football tournament aimed at promoting and spreadimg the ARISE Agenda of Governor Umo Eno to the nooks and cranny of Akwa Ibom State has been floated in Uyo, the State Capital and billed to commence on Saturday 14th December, 2024.
The tournament called ARISE Solidarity Football Tournament is sponsored by Uyo born Politician, Elder Ndanti Ekuh.
Addressing journalists in Uyo, Elder Ekuh said the tournament is organized to preach the ARISE Agenda message in the communities of the State and also rally grassroots support to the ARISE Agenda of the State Governor, Pastor Umo Eno, in addition to adding succor to the yuletide celebration.
According to him, the tournament, apart from promoting the visions and programmes of the Umo Eno’s administration, is also designed to bring people, particularly, young talented Akwa Ibomites from various communities together.
While assuring that the Governor is poised to develop the sports sector and encourage the youth to participate in different sporting activities as encapsulated in the ARISE Agenda, he emphasized that the ARISE Solidarity Football Tournament will consolidate the Governor’s vision and aspiration for sports development in the State.
Ekuh explained that participating teams in the tournament are drawn from across the entire State with each team bearing each letter of the ‘ARISE’ acronym in addition to the Host team, GIFA team and Team 24 making it a total of eight teams fixed into group A and B.
Information made available to news men has it that the final of the tournament is billed for Tuesday 31st December with a winning prize of one hundred thousand naira (N100,000.00) and a trophy for the winner. First and second runner up are expected to go home with sixty thousand naira (N60,000) and fourty thousand naira (N40,000) respectively.
The tournament will take place at the Open Field, behind APICO House, Federal Housing Estate, Abak Road.
