The Akwa Ibom State Governor, Pastor Umo Eno has disclosed that he has no intention of marrying a new wife. The Crest can authoritatively report.
Umo Eno said he was interested in furthering the goals of his late wife’s pet project, Golden Initiative For All (GIFA), noting that his first daughter, Helen Obareki will henceforth deputise.
The Governor made this known when the Senate President, Senator Godswill Akpabio visited him at the government house, Uyo on Friday October 4.
The pastor was said to have jokingly told the Senate President that he will not marry again as he does not have the money to pay for anybody’s bride price.
“No one will be able to fill that vacuum. Her legacy will live in our hearts. She had started projects and I had to introduce our daughter Helen to the First Lady so she would step in to coordinate that office so that the office would still be active in doing the programmes that she had started.
“I’m not about to marry a new wife now …”
Earlier in the day, the wife of the President Remi Tinubu, accompanied by Governors’ wives to Uyo, had consoled the Governor’s daughter, Helen.
The President’s wife hailed the Governor for announcing the daughter, Helen as a replacement of his late wife, adding that such was the practice in America.
“Helen your mom didn’t bring you to me just for nothing and it’s good that your moms colleagues are here and the wife of the Vice President is here. I know Helen very well.
“Helen God will be with you. Don’t worry, you will do more than your mom and God will give you good health okay? “
The wife of Akwa Ibom state Governor, Mrs. Patience Umo Eno had died on September 27, at a hospital in United Kingdom following undisclosed ailment.
The Governor had during his state address on Friday October 4, announced that the wife’s death will not hinder the smooth running of his administration.
