In this series VCDF in support with Natural Oilfield Service Limited (NOSL), has launched a transformative program at Iko Community Secondary School in Iko Town for building well-structured infra facilities and interventions rooting long term and sustainable impact.
VCDF in its multi-faceted approach to holistically upgrade Iko Community Secondary School into a model institution has initiated the infrastructure overhauling work. A total of five classroom blocks including a library is being upgraded to provide a more conducive atmosphere for learning.
Raised walkways and leveled grounds will be made to prevent waterlogging, ensuring accessibility, especially during the rainy season. Provision is made for new toilets for boys, girls, and teachers ensuring better hygiene and comfort, along with two reactivated boreholes, guaranteeing access to clean water.
To further promote cleanliness and environmental responsibility, the school now has four large waste bins, while a new entrance gate and access road enhance accessibility and provide a welcoming appearance is all there stored for Iko Community Secondary School.
The Foundation also provides tools and resources to strengthen science education, including curriculum-based laboratory apparatus and consumables for Physics, Chemistry, and Biology. These resources enable students to gain hands-on experience, sparking curiosity and interest in the pursuit of science.

Additionally, teachers receive training in modern teaching methodologies and soft skills to enhance student engagement. Efforts focus on building teachers’ capacity to improve their teaching abilities, fostering a more effective learning environment.
Meanwhile, students benefit from special programs such as science competitions, environmental education, and workshops on personal hygiene, including menstrual health management for girls.
Through strong partnerships with the Akwa Ibom State Ministry of Education, local government authorities, and active community engagement supported by Natural Oilfield Service Limited (NOSL) and Ibom Developers (IDFZE), VCDF ensures that its programs deliver meaningful and lasting impact.
