The Deputy Vice Chancellor Administration, University of Uyo Prof. Enoidem Usoro has cancelled the SUG election over irregularities as most students were disenfranchised.
The election was an e-voting process and most students couldn’t login to their voting sites, as the voting sites was allegedly hacked by supporters of one of the candidate in order to him emerge winner.
Speaking with some SUG officials, the DVC said, “we plan on setting up a committee to investigate what really happened and what led to the disenfranchisement of students.
“We were not voting but the number of votes for a candidate s keeps rising up ,how this was done we do not know,” Charles from the department of foreign languages said.
Another student from Clinical science said” I tried to login my portal ,but I was blocked, this is pure disenfranchisement.
Meanwhile, the election in which Wisdom Emmanuel emerged winner with a total of 794 votes was vehemently rejected by the students as pandemonium was recorded in the campus after the winner was announced.
