- The Executive Chairman of Etinan Local Government Area, Hon. Uko Umoh, has halted planned peaceful protest by the youth of Etinan Federal Constituency.
The Chairman who convened security and stakeholders meeting in his office on Thursday September 4, had representatives of the youth from Etinan, Nsit Ubium and Nsit Ibom Local Government Areas in attendance.

Speaking with the youth leaders, Hon. Uko Umoh said the objective of the meeting was to open a channel of constructive dialogue concerning the planned peaceful protest by the youth over perceived delay in the fulfillment of certain election commitments made by His Excellency, Governor Umoh Eno, Ph.D during his electioneering.
Uko Umoh appealed to the youth leaders not to embark on any peaceful protest which he said may be hijacked by enemies of the state to cause problem.
The Executive Chairman of Etinan assured the youth leaders of Governor Umo Eno’s commitment to youth empowerment, and urged them to register on the state portal in order to benefit from different government empowerments.

He appealed to the youth leaders to sheath their swords and support pastor Umo Eno.
“I call you all here as representatives of the youth to advise your people not to engage in any peaceful protest.”
“I am told you guys have concluded plans on this. Don’t allow anybody use you to destabilise the state. Governor is from this federal constituency and we owe him that support.”
“I can assure you that the Governor will not fail to empower you. No matter what plan or promises he made, be rest assured that he the Governor will fulfill them before the end of his first term.” Uko Umoh said.

In their unanimous decision, the representatives of the youth promised to halt the planned peaceful protest. They thanked the chairman for his timely intervention.
The representatives of the youth were; Mfon Okon, Nsit Ubium; Gabriel Ufot and Ukeme Udofia, Etinan; and Oduduidem Akang, Nsit Ibom.
Present at the meeting were the Divisional Police Officer of Etinan, CSP Mfon Emem, and the Director of the DSS for Etinan LGA, among others.
