The Uyo Capital City Development Authority, UCCDA, has been advised to complement pastor Umo Eno’s plan of encouraging traders, Small and Medium Scale Businesses, SMSE, by setting up a place for the relocated traders to stay.
Mr. Godwini Ukoh, an expert in maritime sector who spoke exclusively with The Crest, noted that it was counter productive that while the current administration is trying hard to support small scale businesses with grants, UCCDA is indirectly scattering those businesses.

He advised the management of the agency to set up a place in strategic corridors into the state where traders can stay, sell and keep the environment clean while government generates revenue from those places through levies.
Mr. Ukoh made reference to States like Lagos and Abuja where similar approach is adopted.
“Umo Eno has been magnanimous enough to give grants and loan to people, but Uyo Capital City is not doing well.
“Those places should be turned to what we have in Lagos like major bus terminals where the people will make money, and government too will make money. We should be better organised than throwing people stuffs away.”
He advised the government to introduce citizens identity cards that will enable people access government’s empowerment programmes and other things.
