The member representing the people of Ikot Ekpene/Essien Udim/Obot Akara Federal Constituency in the National Assembly, Dr. Patrick Umoh has empowered constituents with cash, laptops to enable them undergo training on digital economy.
Addressing the first batch of beneficiaries at his constituency office in Ikot Ekpene on Saturday November 16, the lawmaker charged them to make good use of the opportunity to learn skills that will change their lives.

Dr. Umoh noted that in view of the current state of Nigeria’s economy, there was need to change empowerment pattern in order to make people adapt to trends that will enable them sit pretty in employment market.
“We must learn to accept the present state of our economy and take practical steps to improve ourselves. The world over is embracing digital economy and we must do the right thing.
“This is just the first batch. I thank those who partnered with me to make this project come to fruition.”
As part of his achievements, Umoh said he has so far ensured employment of 16 constituents, provision of light across the federal constituency; sponsored 16 bills and many other achievements.
He enjoined the beneficiaries to avail themselves of the opportunity to better themselves.
Engr Charles Usua, Board member Akwa Ibom State College of Education, described the empowerment as an act of kindness that has written the lawmaker’s name in the sand of time and will end him a place in his future political endeavours.
He urged the beneficiaries to see the empowerment as a treasure to improve their lives and not for ulterior motive.
Mr. Ofonmbuk Atakpa, a lecturer, commended the lawmaker and charged beneficiaries not to take the gesture for granted.
A beneficiary of the empowerment/training on digital skills, Susan Ekpo from Essien Udim local government, commended the lawmaker.
“I am very happy because this is the first time of benefitting from government initiative and I commend the initiator of this programme.
“I will use the opportunity to improve on my ICT skills as well as make money at the convince of my home.” She said.
Francis Ekanem, another beneficiary from Ikot Ekpene, said the skill he will acquire in the process of the training, will make him advance his knowledge on digital skill.
The highpoint of the occasion was presentation of laptops and cash gift which was complemented by Envoy Nsentip Akpabio.
