Church leaders have been urged to cultivate the habit of personal prayer in order to get fresh anointing for daily ministration.
The charge came from the General Superintendent of Deeper Christian Life Ministry, Pastor William Kumuyi during the Professional and Ministers Conference transmitted live to different countries.
Speaking on the topic, “An extraordinary ministration to an exhausted minister”, the man of God recalled that at the verge of his death, Jesus personally sought the face of his father, as such leaders and professionals should also take out time to seek the face of God.
He decried a trendy situation where people are shifting personal responsibility of taking their problems to God for divine solution to their pastors.
“There is need for personal prayer. Pulpit prayer is good but personal prayer is very necessary. Whatever is happening in your life engage in personal prayer. We must do less talking to men and talk more to God.”
Drawing his teaching from the book of Exodus 33:1-3,12-15, Pastor Kumuyi said, like Moses, Joshua and Elijah who were exhausted yet created time to hear from God, ministers must wrestle in the presence of God so as to get strength and power to move their vision.
Kumuyi warned church ministers and professionals against esteeming physical blessings above God’s presence, adding that if such happens it means, such a person does not have definite Christian experience.
He explained that absence of God’s presence would make the word of God evil tidings.
“Ministers need ministration themselves because most time they are exhausted. Moses, Joshua, Elijah were all exhausted. There are times you get to the lowest end and you need ministration yourself. There are times a minister, though tired, will go to the presence of God and wrestle so that he will have the strength, power and spirit to go on.
“All over the world, people are shifting their personal responsibility of taking their problems to God for divine solution to others. We are in ‘a pray for me generation’. A generation that feels they cannot live except somebody does it for them .
“Jesus personally approached the father at His point of death. Do not be so busy with the work of the Lord without the Lord of the work.
“Just like Moses, we should not be satisfied with the presence of an angel because direct communication with God without an intermediary with an angel is the best for the Ministry.
“When you come to a point in your life when physical blessings cannot satisfied you but God’s presence, it therefore means you have definite Christian experience. The absence of God’s presence makes the word we preach evil tidings. Whatever we have on earth without the presence of the almighty, is nothing.”
The General Superintendent of Deeper Christian Life Ministry, advised leaders not to work by habit but by the spirit of God.
He averred that everything church leaders or professionals do as an habit cannot suffice for an excellent life and ministry.
