In a significant move to advance technological education in ONNA Local Government Area, NNPC Exploration and Production Limited ,NEPL, and Natural Oilfield Services Ltd ,NOSL, have donated laptops to the Transition Chairman of ONNA LGA, Hon. IniAbasi Ekanem.
This donation was part of the Corporate Social Responsibility and an initiative by NEPL/ NOSL to equip a state-of-the-art Information and Communication Technology (ICT) Centre at the Council Secretariat.

During the visit by the NEPL and NOSL delegation, led by Senior Base Manager Group Captain Etete Ekpo, Hon. IniAbasi Ekanem expressed his gratitude, stating, “I have always envisioned an ICT centre for ONNA LGA. This generous contribution from NEPL and NOSL will help us equip the centre with essential internet facilities. The completed center will enhance our students’ preparation for JAMB and improve their ICT skills.”
The ONNA Council Chairman commended NEPL and NOSL for their timely intervention, expressing hope that the ICT centre would serve as a catalyst for research and innovation.
Group Captain Etete Ekpo emphasised that the gesture was part of the many community development programmes aimed at impacting the host communities.
He acknowledged Hon. IniAbasi’s persistent advocacy for support, saying, “This is the opportune moment to provide it.” He also highlighted ONNA Local Government Area’s importance to NOSL, adding that strategic facilities of the company such as the Tank Farm, a water reservoir, and pipelines connecting the oil fields are located in the area.
The Paramount Ruler of ONNA, Edidem Raymond Inyang, represented by the Clan Head of Oniong, Etebom Barr. Sam Efik, expressed appreciation for the initiative, noting the long-term benefits for the children of ONNA.
The royal father further lauded NOSL for several other Corporate Social Responsibility initiative in the area, including the skill acquisition training, and asked the company to continue to do more .
The ICT facility is expected to enhance science and technology research, teaching, and learning. It will also provide a venue for students from ONNA and neighbouring areas to participate in computer-based tests (CBT) conducted by the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB).
The event was graced by notable dignitaries, including the Vice Chairman of ONNA, Hon. Augustine Uffang; Council Secretary, Mrs. Ikott; the Head of Service; as well as serving supervisors and heads of departments.
