The Joint Revenue Board, JRB, Nigeria’s apex body for revenue administration, has inaugurated a Curriculum Committee to review professional tax courses and revenue administration capacity-development programmes to ensure they are aligned with the current tax legislations and reforms.
The 16-Member Committee was inaugurated on Wednesday 4 March 2026, at the JRB Office, Abuja. The Members are drawn from the Nigeria Revenue Service, States Internal Revenue Service, Chartered Institute of Taxation of Nigeria, PricewaterCooper (PwC), the Presidential Fiscal Policy and Tax Reform Implementation Committee, University of Lagos, and private tax consortiums, Pedabo and Ahmed Zakari and Co.
Inaugurating the Committee, the Executive Secretary of JRB, Mr. Olusegun Adesokan, said the Board in exercise of its mandate contained in Section 5(h) of the JRB Establishment Act, deems it necessary to undertake a comprehensive review of tax professional programmes to ensure uniformity and consistency in training standards for personnel of revenue authorities across the Federation.

Mr. Adesokan said, “the tax reforms have established a modern, coordinated tax administration framework that is more technical, digital, and compliance-driven, and the effective implementation of the reforms depend largely on the knowledge, competence and professionalism of revenue officers.”
“I urge the Committee to envision the future of taxation and proactively incorporate into the curriculum those values that will promote quality service delivery, enhanced operational efficiency and total effectiveness of the tax administrator. Our expectation is a tax administrator who is smart, knowledgeable and self-driven to deliver effectively on individual and organisational goals.”
The Chairman of the Committee and Executive Chairman of Kwara State Internal Revenue Service, Mrs. Shade Omoniyi, said the inauguration of the Curriculum Committee came at the time, adding that the curriculum review will help align existing tax training framework with the new tax Laws.
Mandates of the Committee include, to develop a curriculum for the JRB Tax Professional Courses aimed at enhancing competence and professional capacity of revenue officers, while ensuring alignment with the current tax laws; to develop revenue administration curriculum for off-cycle training programmes, recommend a structured approach to management, coordination, and delivery of professional revenue administration training programs applicable to all revenue officers, among others responsibilities.
The Committee has Mrs Shade Omoniyi, Chairman, and Mr. Olugbenga Olaleye, Alternate Chairman. Members are Dr. Zaid Abubakar, Dr. Greg Ezeilo, Prof. Sanni Abiola, Dr. Adeyemi Sanni, Mrs. Olayinka Oluata, Mr. Fidelis Chukwu, Mr. Mathew Osanekwe and Dr. Mohammed Lawal.
Others are, Mr. Chimenka Ezeribe, Mrs. Nafisa Awak, Dr. Ikediashi Onyeka, Mr. Bright Idehenre, Mr. Tolu Adegbie and Mrs. Arinola Daisi.
The Committee has three (3) months to complete its assignment.
