Department of Media and Photography, Ibom Metropolitan Polytechnic, Uyo, Akwa Ibom State has inaugurated pioneer executive of the association of Media and Photography Students to pilots the leadership of the association for one semester.
The Executive members are: Comrade Umoh, Boniface as President; Adaise Stephen as Vice President; Sunday Frank as Secretary while others are Miss Comfort Alexander as Assistant Secretary; Miss Emediong Idongesit as Treasurer; Mr Utibe Sunday as Auditor; Miss Godssweetlife Godsall as Director of Sports; Miss Goodness Effem as Ex Officio 1; and Ruth Umohobong as Ex Officio 2.

The inauguration ceremony which took place in the school premises, Atan Offot, behide the State Secretariat, Uyo, recently had in attendance, Mr Emmanuel Udoatta, Head of Department; Mr Umoh Akaninyene, immediate past Head of Department of Media and Photography, Mr Uyiobong Etim, Mr Nsikak Umanah, Mr Ndifereke Nteyoho, Mrs Laurel Essenabasi, Miss Caroline Saka and students of the department.
Inaugurating the executive, the Head of Department, Mr Emmanuel Udoatta noted that as the Head of Department, he cannot work alone, as such he needed great minds, great ideas and supports to move the department forward which led to the creation of the association.
Udoatta stated that he appointed the poinner EXCOs to each offices after accessing the track records of the appointees to pilot the affairs of the association for the period which the semeater will last, hinted that after the expiration of the appointed government, there will be election, any student interested for a office will buy form and contest for any positionThe HOD charged the newly appointed EXCOs to work in love for the growth of the department, challenged them to let go of negative and impossibility mindset to achieve the aims of the group.
On his expectations from the Umoh Boniface’s led administration, Mr Udoatta tasked them to draft a constitution for the association to help guide the conduct and behaviour of students in the department, help organize Mass Communication week in the Students’ week of the institution coming up April 17, help conduct the association next election as well help to increase the number of students in Mass Communication department by advertising the department and the school at large.
Mr Emmanuel Udoatta who was appointed the Head of Department of the institution, December 2022 due to his pragmatic leadership style has given the department of Media and Photography a facelift by introducing programmes that enhances students academic performance, entrusting students with difference leadership positions.
He introduced “Fantastic Mass Communication Friday”, a Live show that will feature magazine production, news casting, drama and dance, Public Speaking to enhance practical among students and prepare them to compete with their contemporaries after graduation.
The maiden edition of the Fantastic Mass Communication Friday is set for June, 2023 in the school premises.
In his acceptance speech, the President of the Association, comrade Boniface Umoh , commended the HOD, Mr Emmanuel Udoatta for the vision of creating the Association of Media and Photography Students for the period he took over as HOD.
Umoh registered his gratitude to God as the pioneer President of the Association and promised to work with everybody to actualizes the vision.
Highpoint of the event was the presentation of the newly appointed Executives, introduction of Media and Photography uniform to students, creation of Mass Communication Choir with Mr Ndifreke Nteyoho and Mr Uyiobong Etim as supervising lecturers and Queen Godwin as Choir Director.
