The Rector, Federal Polytechnic, Ukana, Eduma Essien , has reaffirmed the institution’s commitment to entrepreneurial skills development as a key driver of economic revival and national growth.
Mrs. Essien stated this today during the inspection and test-running of the institution’s tissue paper production line, located at the Entrepreneurial Training Centre on the main campus of the Polytechnic.

The Rector expressed satisfaction with the quality of the tissue paper produced under the brand name Polysoft, describing it as unique and of high standard. She disclosed that Polysoft and other products from the Polytechnic would soon be introduced to the market.
According to her, the initiative is part of the institution’s deliberate effort to promote practical learning and equip students with relevant skills that will enhance self-reliance after graduation.
Mrs. Essien also inspected other facilities within the Centre, including the paint production factory, salon, and shoe-making units. She expressed optimism that the Polytechnic’s students would, in addition to academic excellence, acquire hands-on entrepreneurial skills capable of making them productive contributors to the economy.
She further noted that the host community and Akwa Ibom State at large would soon feel the positive impact of the Polytechnic’s expanding entrepreneurship and skills development programmes. The Rector called for greater collaboration between the public and the institution to strengthen the initiative.
The Rector was accompanied on the inspection by the Bursar- Dr. Emmanuel Esomonu,the Polytechnic Librarian- Mr.Ehikioya Uduebor and other members of management.
