Minister Of State, Petroleum Resources (Gas) Rt. Hon. (Obongemem) Ekperikpe Ekpo, PhD, Saturday, March 21, 2027 presented Scholarship awards and financial assistance worth millions of Naira to students of Ika Local Government origin, drawn from various academic institutions.
The presentation took place at the minister’s country home, Ikot Udom, Ika Local Government Area of Akwa Ibom State.
Speaking during the presentation, the Gas Minister, represented by wife, Lady Esitmbom, said the gesture was an ongoing effort to ease the financial burden of students studying in institutions of higher learning, and to encourage them to concentrate on their studies.
”Tertiary education is capital intensive. So this gesture is to lessen the financial burden on both the students and their sponsors. Also, when you have financial support, you can concentrate more on your studies” The minister said.
Ekpo charged the beneficiaries to take their studies seriously, and graduate with good grades, to justify the huge investment in their education.
The beneficiaries thanked the minister and promised to make good use of the opportunity, adding that doing so was the only way to show genuine appreciation to him.
” All we can say to the Hon. Minister is thank you. But beyond that, the real appreciation is for us to study hard and come out in flying colours” they said.
