Policy Alert, a Civil Society Organisation that promotes fiscal and ecological justice in the Niger Delta has warned  Akwa Ibom State government against breaching the Public Procurement Law of the State by taking loans for contractors. Policy Alert, a Civil Society Organisation that promotes fiscal and ecological justice in the Niger Delta has described as unacceptable the payment of N104.66 billion by the government of Akwa Ibom State as interest on loans taken from commercial banks in the last eight years. Sterling Global is a multinational oil company operating in Eastern Obolo local government area. Leadership crisis has again sparked off vandalisation of at least four houses and destruction of household items in Iwukem, Etim Ekpo local government area, Akwa Ibom State. The head of the community, Eteidung Francis Linus Uyo, has fled after his house was vandalised on Saturday 9th September. A non-profit organization in Akwa Ibom State, Emerging Leaders, has begun the cultivation of 20 hectares of demonstration farm in Nsit Ubium Local Government Area.  The group, made up of young persons from different walks of life across the state, is poised to make a difference in all sectors.
