The Accountant General of Akwa Ibom State, Pastor Uwem Andrew-Essien has been described as a man of integrity with the conferment of Honorary Titular position of Nigerian Medical Association (NMA) Brand Ambassador for the National Physicians Week 2021
Performing the ceremony at the Office of the Accountant General during a courtesy visit, the Chairman NMA, Dr. Ime Sylvester Udoh said, the conferment was in recognition of the sterling leadership qualities of Pastor Andrew Essien. Dr. Udoh who lauded the State Governor’s foresight at appointing Pastor Andrew-Essien, as the Accountant General of Akwa Ibom State said, the State was blessed to have a man of his pedigree, describing him as a “transparent and consistent public servant.
The NMA Chairman assured Pastor Andrew-Essien of willingness of the association to partner the State Government in all heath affairs and other societal issues.
He revealed that the Nigerian Medical Association is the largest professional body of Doctors in Nigeria with membership strength of over 50,000 Medical Doctors, and branches spread across the 36 States of the Federation, including the Federal Capital territory.
Dr. Udoh intimated the Accountant General of the NMA’s Physician Week coming up October, 2021, saying, the annual event which would be chaired by the immediate past President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, Dr. Goodluck Ebele Jonathan is aimed at recognizing, sacrificial dedication and devotion of physicians to patients care and the wellness of the communities and society at large.
Responding, the Accountant General of Akwa Ibom State, Pastor Uwem Andrew-Essien expressed gratitude to the Nigerian Medical Association for the honour done him, saying he was humbled and promised to continue to put in his best for increased service delivery.
Pastor Andrew-Essien who lauded doctors on their commitment to serving lives even at the expense of their lives, maintained that Governor Udom Emmanuel was committed to providing a conducive atmosphere for doctors in the State.
The Accountant General who acknowledged the cordial relationship existing between NMA and his office, pledged his support to the successful hosting of the Association’s week.
