The Etinan local government chairman, Hon. Uko Umoh, in his avowed commitment to staff welfare, has given out 380 bags of rice to staff of the local government.
The event which took place Wednesday December 27, 2023 at the council Secretariat, Etinan witnessed celebration by staff of the council who described the chairman’s gesture as unprecedented.
Addressing the council staff, the Local Government Chairman, Hon. Uko Umoh noted that the Christmas gift was part of his promise to always put smiles on faces of council staff.
He recalled that as the head of council, he will do everything possible to make staff happy but harped on discipline and punctuality to work.
“I can assure you of my commitment to improved staff welfare and good working environment.
“But let me remind you that to whom much is given much is expected. I will expect so much from you to ensure that we succeed together.”
Also speaking at the council Secretariat in Etinan, the Head of Service, Mrs. Ntekim, appreciated the local government chairman, Hon. Uko Umoh for demonstrating love to the local government staff.
She noted that since Hon. Uko Umoh assumed office, staff of the council have seen changes, adding that the local government staff truly love him.
In his words, the NULGE chapter chairman, comrade Ifiok Macaulay lauded the chairman for keeping to his words.
He recalled when the chairman assumed office and had a meeting with NULGE, he had assured them of improved welfare and good working condition, and applauded Hon. Uko Umoh for keeping to his words.

“We are very excited for what we have seen today, this is the first of its kind since the return of democracy in 1999.
“We promise to reciprocate this by working hard to ensure this administration succeeds in all areas.” Macaulay said.
The highpoint of the short event was presented of 370 bags of 10kg rice and 10 bags of 50kg by the local government chairman, Hon. Uko Umoh.
