All is now set for the disbursements of founds to 1,950 beneficiaries in the first tranche of Akwa Ibom Covid-19 Action Recovery and Economic Stimulus (AK-CARES) programme under the social transfer 1.1 delivery platform.
The head social transfer unit of the programme, Deaconess Christiana Akpan who disclosed this Friday 28, October 2022 in Uyo said plans have been concluded for the flag off of disbursements of the N20,000 bi-monthly payment to the beneficiaries next week .
Akpan who lauded Governor Udom Emmanuel for his compassionate disposition towards the poor and vulnerable person in the state , said the beneficiaries were in the categories of people within the age bracket of 60 years and above , physically challenged, widows , critically ill persons and the urban poor.
She further stated that the disbursements will be handled by First bank PLC, the approved payment service provider for the social transfer delivery platform where the beneficiaries’ monies will be transmitted directly into their individual bank accounts throughout the duration of the programme which she said will last for one year in the first instance.
Mrs. Akpan while appreciating the world bank , the federal government and Akwa Ibom State government for initiating such and laudable programme, said with the positive impact created in all the delivery platforms of the AK-CARE programme in the state , the living conditions of Akwa Ibom people will be seriously improved.
